Penguin Data Club recruiting!

“Penguin Data Club” is a weekly meeting for undergrads at the University of Cincinnati. Working in collaboration with Dr. Katie Kalafut and the Cincinnati Zoo, we will dig into the social lives of Little Blue Penguins.

*** UPDATE: Penguin Data Club meetings in Spring 2020 have been scheduled for Fridays, 3:00-5:00, in Rieveschl 713. If you are interested in joining at this point, please email Dr. Hobson at elizabeth.hobson@uc.edu.

This is an opportunity for undergrad students to volunteer 2 hours / week to learn about data analysis, coding in R, social network analysis, and of course, penguins! (I am not offering research credit for this experience this semester, this is a volunteer-only opportunity).

Previous experience with data analysis or coding is not required — students should be motivated and excited to learn. Please bring a laptop to each meeting and come ready to code!

I am starting the process of scheduling a meeting time for this semester.

Please visit this link (https://forms.gle/8y3EXZQK64ofwfuK6) and fill out the form if you are interested. More information and examples of our activities last semester are here: https://hobsonresearch.com/index.php/tag/penguin-data-club/

FIRST MEETING: Our first meeting of Spring 2020 PDC will be during the week of Jan 20-24. Time to be decided soon! (Please fill out your availability in the form above)

** Please note, our amazing field trip to the zoo, where we got to meet the penguins and see penguin chicks, cannot be guaranteed to happen every semester! You need to be ok with the possibility of only working with penguin data.
